The Wolfpack brings together community leaders and changemakers to take collective environmental action, make a big impact locally and in the Great Lakes Region, and have fun while we do it.
The Wolfpack was formed in Ann Arbor, Michigan in the early 2000s by a small group of connected individuals who shared a deep passion for the environment and were committed to use their influence and act as a catalyst to address issues that threaten the future of the natural world and public health.
Now a network of over 150 members, the Wolfpack’s community leaders and change agents take collective action to make a big environmental impact locally in southeast Michigan and throughout the Great Lakes Region. They do this through advocacy and enduring relationships, working with sector-leading partner organizations to meet the very real environmental challenges of our day.
The Wolfpack is currently organized into teams that focus on various environmental issues. Teams form when members collectively decide to take on a challenge.
Line 5 is a ticking time bomb in our Great Lakes that is threatening to spill millions of gallons of oil into the largest freshwater lakes in the world, essential habitat for wildlife, and the foundation of local economies.
The Climate Action Team exists to respond to the climate crisis with the urgency that the issue and science require. We work to achieve both mitigation of, and resilience to, climate change in the community to meet or exceed the goals set by international scientific standards.
The Wolfpack supports environmental justice efforts. Our current focus is on improving livability in the poorest and most polluted sections of Detroit and Ypsilanti Michigan.
Pollinators are facing threats from habitat loss and climate change. They are essential to healthy, functioning ecosystems. We work to expand and preserve pollinator habitat at the community level.
The waters of the Great Lakes region aren't just essential to the health of people and wildlife, they're also a part of our identity. The team educates citizens and leaders about the threats we face while building coalitions to advocate for water quality protection and restoration.
The events team creates gatherings for Wolfpack members to learn about new issues and network with other members. The team is fun and enjoys supporting the wider membership.
